Creating the Worlds You Create
How to Design a Universe From Scratch and Get People to Like It

We are all creators, and we’ve been telling you that for a while now. This is not just about ourselves at Loot Studios. It’s not about you, DMs and RPG players, painters, and makers around the world, but literally all of us. Whether we create great stories, new worlds, art, strategies, or solutions to problems, our creative essence guides us through most of our lives, even if we don’t quite realize that yet.
From the moment we were painting animals on cave walls, to the 70s, when D&D was first published, or even today, when we get creative to overcome any challenges, we’ve been telling stories to each other. In a way, we are all storytellers as well. Our imagination is the only thing standing between us and a limitless horizon of possibilities.
But what makes a story great?
We believe the core answer is simple: co-creating it and leaving room for expansion. That is, somewhat, part of why Loot Studios came to be. We wanted to tell great stories, and transform a few moments in the midst of our daily rush into adventures worth remembering. We dreamed of building a new reality for ourselves! One that is kinder, more creative, and essentially, more fun to live.
And what better way to do it than providing you with an infinite sandbox, a safe space to create and tell your own stories?
The Arcane Knowledge of Co-creation and Brainstorming
How can you create a universe, truly? Luckily, at the very beginning, there was nothing, so we could go anywhere we wanted. And why not let those who will tell great stories in the end have a say at our beginning? That’s why the first step in designing worlds for you is a survey. “What? But that’s so simple!”, you may think. And you are absolutely right! And yet, simplicity is, most of the time, the most solid way to go.

From a selection of themes that could be potentially great or even from ideas you sent us in our Discord Community, we ask you to vote for your favorites. With that in mind, we look for references and go through many brainstorming sessions. As creators, we usually have more ideas than what we are capable of producing. So, we have to battle each other (in a friendly way) to select the cream of the crop.
Once that’s done and we are satisfied with the overall aesthetics and character ideas, we move on to the next chapter.
Concept Art Wizards, 3D Artificers, and Worldbuilding Bards
Through our team’s inventive minds and arcane spells, this is where our dreams gain shape in the real world. From the brainstorming briefing, our wizards create the concept art for each hero, enemy, object, and prop. And after feedback from our elder Art Directors, we achieved the final look of these astonishing models that will star in your story. But the work is far from over. It’s time for a new clan to take matters into their hands: our 3D artificers!
3D modeling is not an easy job, but at Loot Studios it is done with mastery. Following the teachings of the internationally recognized Alvaro Ribeiro, the concept art is carefully brought to the third dimension, focusing on every tiny detail, cloth fold, scar, and fur texture. The final result is basically a digital version of the model on your game table.
Meanwhile, in the room next door, the Loremaster tirelessly crafts unique backstories with the aid of his padawans. Here’s where the statblocks you will use in your RPG are created, as well as the plot, conflicts, and other narrative-related content to help you tell fantastic stories.

Paladins of the 3D Printing Order and Their Allies
Since all Loot’s models are pre-supported, prototyped, and designed to avoid printing failures, the paladins of the 3D printing department have a job of utmost importance. Not only are they responsible for creating the best supports for your models (which are so satisfying to remove after the model is printed), but also for making sure everything works properly for the most popular 3D printers available in the market.

And like the rest of us, they are not alone in this quest. After all the pieces are printed, the Finishing team carefully smooths every edge. They are like gifted artisans, getting things ready to receive paint. Then it’s up to our Painting Masters, ingenious clerics who bring each character through life with colors, using their divinely granted abilities.
The Rangers of Audiovisual and the Townsfolk
Just point and shoot, right? Not just arrows, but we are also talking about cameras, photographs, and videos. In a time when social media is a considerable part of people’s lives, we know how a great picture can change the perception of something. And to properly show all the work done so far by this army of creators, we need our videomakers and designers to perform several perception rolls. And my oh my, they have a sharp eye for detail, like real rangers!

The final result you see on our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (and finally, coming out of your 3D printer) is thanks to each one of those involved in this long process of creativity. Even the ads you see, the Community Team you talk to, the platform you download your minis from. Everything involves several heroes, all united under one goal: to help you create your own universe.
You, Master of the Lootverse
This is only the beginning of this long and epic journey (seriously, bring your provisions with you, there’s no telling how far we can go). The story goes on, and just like Bilbo left his journal for Frodo, and then Frodo left the rest of it for Samwise, we leave it to you. Our main purpose is to give you this sandbox of universes, our own Lootverse, with stories waiting to be told, longing to be expanded, wishing you to co-create them, and turn them into a huge net of worlds, dreams, and endless legendary quests.
So we’re left with the invitation, the call to the adventure. Will you answer it? If so, it’s time to enter this portal and create fantastic stories with us.
